Mount Kinabalu rises to a breathtaking 13,435 feet (4,095 meters), making it the tallest mountain between the Himalayas and New Guinea. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Global Geopark, it’s renowned for its rich biodiversity and stunning landscapes. Culturally significant, the mountain holds deep meaning for the Kadazan Dusun people, who consider it the sacred resting place of their ancestors, The name “Kinabalu” comes from ‘Aki Nabalu’ which translates to ‘the revered place of the dead’ in the local language.
